Key answer
Match the evidence to the claim
Ask what the supplier's renewable claim means, which certificates or contracts support it, the reporting period and whether the evidence is allocated to your consumption. Price and environmental evidence should both be documented.

Questions for a renewable tariff
Find out whether the product is backed by Renewable Energy Guarantees of Origin, direct contracting with generators or another mechanism. Ask how certificates are retired or allocated and what documentation the business receives.
A tariff choice does not by itself reduce the amount of electricity the premises uses. Energy efficiency, load shifting and on-site assets answer different operational questions.
- What is the precise renewable claim?
- What evidence supports it?
- Does the evidence cover the full consumption period?
- What is included in the quoted price?
- Can the business use the evidence in its own reporting?
