Key answer
MHHS does not automatically guarantee a cheaper tariff
The programme increases the use of half-hourly consumption data in settlement. Businesses should confirm how their supply is being migrated, how they can access usable consumption data and how a proposed tariff treats different time periods.

Current programme milestones
Elexon lists 28 October 2026 as the point at which all suppliers can access MPANs under the new arrangements, 7 May 2027 for migration completion and 2 July 2027 for settlement timetable cutover. These are programme milestones, not a statement that every business has already migrated.
A supplier can explain the status of an individual supply. Avoid assuming that MHHS forces every business onto a time-of-use retail tariff.
- Ask which meter and settlement arrangement applies now.
- Request accessible consumption data where available.
- Check whether operating hours align with tariff periods.
- Model rate differences using actual intervals before changing behaviour.

Use data for a procurement decision
Half-hourly data can reveal when consumption occurs, not just how much is used in a year. A business can use that information to test time-based offers, investigate peaks and explain operating patterns to prospective suppliers.
